Arithmancy

Nu
One of the Four Major schools of magick (also known as the Four Orders) surrounding the concept of Chaos, Arithmancy is the measurement and distribution of arcane power once taken from said force known as Chaos.
In practice, the school is centered around mathematical equations of quantity and precise alignment of certain elements, be they stones, magick circles, or even the stars. Usually, Arithmancy is known as the Buffer School of Magick, as it is able to intensify or compress the amount of energy within a given spell to the nth degree, if used successfully, it can turn a simple fire ball into a meteor of an inferno.
A Mortal Magister, by the name of Kristopher Rungok Cruz, famously stated on the subject of Arithmancy in his book The Order Within Chaos;"Depending on how complex the working, the more complex the shapes and quantities involved." bringing about the proven theory that the more detailed the incantation was, the more powerful and controlled it could be. This had the effect of turning Arithmancy into a necessity in regards to a Magician's required college studies, it's usage key to amplifying the usage of schools such as Abjuration, Evocation and Contingency.
An Arithmancer (or in layman's terms: a "math magician") is best known for carrying a calculus or a number of measuring instrument (pun not intended) and does not actually gain power from speaking a said list of numbers, nay, numbers are only used in creation of intricately designed glyphs and sigils, able to cast magick from prepared tablets or cubes that require only a simple command word to send arcane energy running through the design, the pattern giving specific power  and attributes as it flows through in a specific manner and speed.
Of the colleges of magick that don't incorporate Arithmancy, there are but few. And as for those that solely focus on certain aspects of the school, they are as follows:

Nihilomahtur: A long since banned college of Arithmancy, it students studied an attempt to create a devastating form of magick through the power of the void and the theories of dividing by zero.

Calculatis: Devoted to precise and accurate mathematical data, this college was recognized in furthering the development of Arithmancy's common usage and understanding there of within society, as well as creating intricate and deviant number tables to hide secrets from foreign enemies without the usage of arcane power.

Nimismah: Perhaps the most popular of today's Arithmancy colleges, it's students focus only on using the aspect of increasing or decreasing the power of any given spell, usually to the point of co-working with other schools of magick, such as Enchantment or Alchemy.
Another magick school for the 32-36 that are within my story world! Check out the Sophia like Diagram for better understanding.

I would also like to thank :iconrungok: for the help in developing this arcane study. Rest assure he has been compensated within this piece (and now belongs to the ages foreva! :evillaugh: )

Maths! Aaaaaaahhhhh!!!! :sprint:

...Numbers don't make sense to me ^^; They're all back to front and piled on top and higgledy piggledy, as opposed to nice neat right-to-left words that do what you tell them to...
